FFD: Are you giddy for Gamescom?

It’s that time of the year again. Yes, it’s time for Europe’s version of E3. I rather prefer Gamescom for a number of reasons; there’s a lot more beer, Cologne is a heck of a lot nicer than L.A, and the whole thing is open to the public; meaning that the press gets to have its own section, away from the swatches of crowds. The other thing about Gamescom is that it’s really, really massive. Instead of two halls full of stuff, you’ve got 10 the size of airplane hangars – which means more actual games to see and play.

Plus, with a few months between E3 and Gamescom, those games tend to be in a more playable state, which means even more hands-on time. Yay!

Which of those games are you excited for? I’m pretty keen to get my eyes and hands on Mortal Kombat X, Bloodborne, and Quantum Break on the Xbox One. The other thing I’m really looking forward to, is getting Matty the Cabbage drunk, and tea-bagging his face while he’s passed out.

But what games are you excited to see coverage of? What reveals are getting you giddy – if anything at all. Is it all just a bit of pointless pomp and ceremony from publishers and platform holders? Has any of it got you excited, or does most of your annual gaming news thrill come from E3?

Editor. I'm old, grumpy and more than just a little cynical. One day, I found myself in possession of a NES, and a copy of Super Mario Bros 3. It was that game that made me realise that games were more than just toys to idly while away time - they were capable of being masterpieces. I'm here now, looking for more of those masterpieces.
