I give up on Square Enix. They might create awesome games that I love, and sometimes hate, but they have no idea who their target audience actually is. Why do people love the Final Fantasy franchise, why would they love the MMO? I can tell you now, it’s not for the fighting.
I thoroughly enjoyed the FFXIV: A Realm Reborn beta. It’s relaunching soon, and I’m excited to get back in there and run around. Really, I am. The game officially launches at the end of the month, and they have started advertising it on TV in Japan. Now, maybe the Japanese audience is different, but I doubt this video will convince them to play, unless they recognize the music.
Here is the TV spot:
Yup, it really is primarily running, either on your own or upon a Chocobo, or fighting. Lots and lots of fighting. What about the awesome world they built? Or the beautiful cut scenes? There is so much more to the game than running and fighting, it makes me sad that Square Enix thinks that they can pick up more players this way.

It’s not a bad advert, I think it is sufficient for a Tv Spot, but you don’t really get a feel for the game’s many other features, plus the Theme Song rocks

I might actually try this and then create a character that resembles Sephiroth with the name Aries_DIED_LOL
