Ghost Recon: Future Soldier shows co-op done right

I’m a sucker for a good co-op experience – but I dislike combat shooters. There’s an internal battle going on in my head right now, and *gasp* it seems like the combat shooter might be winning. The reason? Ghost Recon Future Soldier’s got co-op – and it looks pretty damned amazing. It allows for four-players (or two via split-screen!) to play co-operatively through and entire campaign – and, importantly, requires that players actually y’know..work together.

In this video, watch Ubisoft’s P director Adrian Lacy co-ordinate a complex firefight through the game’s ‘Valiant Hammer’ mission with a grace and style that’s often missing from co-operative games, which generally throw a bunch of players on to a map and have them shoot at stuff – not that that’s necessarily a bad thing, especially if that game is called Borderlands.

Of course, these are people who know the game in-and-out – and my own play sessions are more likely to degenerate in to this sort of mess :

Ghost Recon Future Soldier hits the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in May.
