How not to ask an interview question

Cat got your tongue

Sometimes, it’s really hard to know what to ask in an interview setting, and it’s especially daunting when your brain isn’t working because jetlag has turned you in to a zombie.  And maybe this guy from Machinima was just so overwhelmed and blown away by Titanfall that he lost all brain functioning. But I love that they posted this video to show just how garbled some questions can get.

Here is the video:

For those who can’t/won’t watch, the guy literally asks:

How did you, how is the gameplay so smooth versus what we’re actually seeing like the YouTube videos and stuff like that of gameplay in the sense that they’re what the kids are at home watching the gameplay and they’re saying, “Wow, ya know, like this this looks really smooth, this looks really easy.” How are you guys matching that same quality of game to Call of Duty 4 or Modern Warfare.

Um, yes? I believe yes is the only possible answer. Talk about word salad!

Press events can sometimes be silly. Everyone is jetlagged and stressed; it’s rare for people to be at the top of their game. Plus, throw in some awesome gaming experiences, and you can add overwhelmed to the equation. Oh well, at least I can feel better about some of my awkward moments in interviews. Thanks to the guys at Machinima for giving us a laugh on a Friday!
