Is Kenshi up next in Mortal Kombat X?

Kenshi

I’m not sure if any of you are aware of the level of enthusiasm I have for Mortal Kombat X, the latest brutal brawler from NetherRealm. I got to play the game for the first time earlier this year ta Gamescom, and walked away rather impressed for somebody who favours Street Fighter’s mechanics and pace over Mortal Kombat. Like many of you, I also got to play it at this year’s rAge, which included the most recently revealed kombatant,  Quan-Chi. I’ve been watching Ed Boon’s Twitter like a crazed fan, waiting to see who’s coming next. By the looks of things, it may be Kenshi.

While there are two characters that could be, judging from the implied use of telekinesis, I’m going to go with my gut and guess that it’s Kenshi. With Mortal Kombat X’s narrative taking place in the future, I’m going to assume that it’s not Ermac, but instead his blinded saviour and student. Kenshi made his debut in 2002’s Mortal Kombat Dead Alliance. He was added as a DLC character in to the last Mortal Kombat too, and is probably one of the better received characters to be introduced to the series since it made the shift to 3D.

Mortal Kombat X is out in April next year, and looks like it’ll be the best Mortal Kombat yet. It’s out on PC, as well as the old and new consoles.

Here’s a look at the trailer for Kenshi from the Mortal Kombat reboot.

The pose of the guy being fatalitied (?) looks similiar to that of someone being grabbed by Ermac’s ranged telekinetic grab attack.

But, the dude doing the fatality is totes in a Kenshi pose.

    …totes.

If Kenshi does return in MKX (though this time, as a default character), I wonder how he would stand out in story mode since Shang Tsung is dead.
