Over at reddit’s Xbox One subsection there was a bit of a pat on the back post about how well the Xbox One is doing and how someone felt the console is getting a lot of negative media for no real reason.
Obviously since the subreddit is full of Xbox One fans most people agreed but what is interesting is that Major Nelson, the Xbox Director of Programming, jumped in and added some info about what is going on behind the scenes.
Nothing earth shattering but there is some good news for Xbox One fans in the near future.
He started off by stating
“Lot’s of good work going on to make the console even better – some you’ll see soon, some will show up later. But: it is all good stuff :)”
And then people started asking questions. The most exciting reveal really was that external game storage is coming soon which is vital as the Xbox One requires you to install the entire game and with only a 500Gb non changeable hard drive this means a lot of people are already having to uninstall games to make space.
Adding a 2Tb drive will definitely help and will not be a major expense.
He also goes on to state that the Kinect can never be used as a home security system as someone requested.
“There are a TON of issues w/ this..#1 being privacy. Some people (incorrectly) think Kinect is always watching them.”
Now what I want to know is how can the Kinect see me walk in if it isn’t always watching?
Anyway it’s nice to see the Major interacting with the community and while I give the Xbone a lot of flak I can definitely say it is still the console with the nicest controller and I’m looking forward to the local release. Only if because a local release surely means local servers and then I can play Titanfall properly.
