It’s been about 6 months and some change since Mortal Kombat 11, this year’s finest bare-knuckled murder simulator hit, and in that time, there’s been an awful lot of comically-tinged bloodshed, dismemberment and gratuitous cartoon violence. In anew infographic (people still do those?) Mortal Kombat developer NetherRealm has revealed some stats and numbers about the game.

According to their tracking, there’s been a total of 129,315,819,607 pints of blood spilled in the game to date. There have also been 346,522,493 gruesome fatalities performed, with a further 102,681,131 humiliating brutalities. Their stats also say that just over 4 million matches have resulted in angry losers rage quitting.

It’s not surprising, given that he’s the cover star, that Scorpion is the most used character in both regular and ranked play. He’s also the character with the most wins (which makes sense), but also the character who’s had the most fatalities performed against him. Basically, Mortal Kombat 11 is Scorpion: The Video Game.

All totalled, people have spent 205,262,299 hours smashing each other to pulpy bits in a violent video game, which is a weird thing when it’s put into perspective that way.

Anyway, Mortal Kombat 11 really is quite a smashing game, and probably my favourite fighter of the year.

“A bone-breaking blast of bloody fun, Mortal Kombat 11 is a celebration of ultra-violence that pushes the franchise forward to gloriously gory new heights,” we said.

We recently learned that while the current story in the Mortal Kombat universe is done (which makes sense, given how Mortal Kombat 11 ends), it’s not quite over for MK just yet. Says Ed Boon:

“The story of Mortal Kombat, we’re pretty much calling this one the end of the story, but we’re certainly not through with Mortal Kombat. You know, there’s more characters that are going to come, and we have a big surprise coming next year for Mortal Kombat.”

If you can’t wait for next year, there’s still more coming to MK11. On November 26, the screamy Sindel makes here way to the game, joining already released Kombat Pack characters Shang Tsung, Nightwolf and The Terminator. There’s still Spawn and Joker coming too.
