One of our readers, Andre V, sent me an email last night with a link to Corlen Kruger’s blog and while it’s a little old I felt we should still get it up since it’s a South African’s blog and he had a major say in the character design of Mortal Kombat 9.

According to the blog Corlen Kruger is a South African born award winning concept artist and designer was educated at the University of Pretoria and has worked for i-Imagine, Digi-Guys, Midway (Mortal Kombat) and is now back in SA working for Atomhawk Design remotely.

His claim to fame for our purposes is that he did a lot of the concept art and design for Mortal Kombat 9 (the last Mortal Kombat that was released) and has posted up some of his concept art on his blog over here.

But to be safe I’ve stolen the art and it can be seen right here

But don’t let that stop you from heading over to his blog to check out some of his amazing designs and possibly the most awesome t-shirt design I’ve ever seen.

So congrats Corlen for representing South Africa so well, it’s always nice seeing a local doing well in the gaming industry.
