SoulCalibur5HeaderCrotch

Last week we posted up about the Soul Calibur 5 poster from Namco which was nothing more than a close up shot of a pair of breasts which appealed directly to their target market.

The marketing worked as it was splashed across the front page of every gaming website on the planet so they decided to try do it again but this time they’ll use a close up shot of a male characters crotch.

This monstrosity of a picture was put up on their Facebook page and subsequently taken down after they received a flood of criticism and bizarrely; complaints that it was offensive.

How is a picture of a guys crotch more offensive than the massive cleavage that was their last shot?

I personally don’t think this is a good shot but not because it’s a male shot but more because I don’t think that’s attractive for their women or gay gamers. Maybe I’m wrong but it doesn’t look very pretty at all.
