I seemed to have missed (or purposefully ignored it, who knows?) it in my inbox, but it apparently it was important enough for Microsoft to send it through twice. Those great prices you saw in flash sales for the Xbox One? They’ll be sticking around until the day before Christmas, so if you want to get an Xbox One for cheap you can. the official price has dropped by R500, matching the $50 price drop we saw in the US.

Here’s what the press release says.

From Monday 8 December to Wednesday 24 December, Xbox One will be running a value campaign, offering a R500 discount on every Xbox One bundle or stand alone console.
This discount applies to the standard Xbox One and the Xbox One Kinect.

For the consumer this offers even better value with a Xbox One bundled with Fifa 15, and the Limited Edition Sunset Over drive console with Sunset Overdrive now available at R5799. The 1T Call of Duty Limited edition console will be R6799, and the Xbox One Kinect bundle with Dance Spotlight and Fifa 15 will be R7499.

Accompanying the release was a video, which you can see right here. Included videos mean it’s serious business, and Microsoft really, really wants you to know that you can grab a cheap Xbox One.

Editor. I'm old, grumpy and more than just a little cynical. One day, I found myself in possession of a NES, and a copy of Super Mario Bros 3. It was that game that made me realise that games were more than just toys to idly while away time - they were capable of being masterpieces. I'm here now, looking for more of those masterpieces.
