I seemed to have missed (or purposefully ignored it, who knows?) it in my inbox, but it apparently it was important enough for Microsoft to send it through twice. Those great prices you saw in flash sales for the Xbox One? They’ll be sticking around until the day before Christmas, so if you want to get an Xbox One for cheap you can. the official price has dropped by R500, matching the $50 price drop we saw in the US.
Here’s what the press release says.
From Monday 8 December to Wednesday 24 December, Xbox One will be running a value campaign, offering a R500 discount on every Xbox One bundle or stand alone console.
This discount applies to the standard Xbox One and the Xbox One Kinect.For the consumer this offers even better value with a Xbox One bundled with Fifa 15, and the Limited Edition Sunset Over drive console with Sunset Overdrive now available at R5799. The 1T Call of Duty Limited edition console will be R6799, and the Xbox One Kinect bundle with Dance Spotlight and Fifa 15 will be R7499.
Accompanying the release was a video, which you can see right here. Included videos mean it’s serious business, and Microsoft really, really wants you to know that you can grab a cheap Xbox One.

In Terry Pratchetts disk-world, there is a Campaign for equal heights, for the dwarves, that is run by humans of normal height only. The dwarves did not understand why it was needed.
Not that I am saying offence should not be taken at things, but in this case I do fail to see how this is in poor taste. It is a pun, with some visual elements. Town San Juan, perhaps? Or Juan = John? Will Spanish speakers not make puns on English words or names?

Well, it’s not offensive on its own. By itself, it’s kind of funny.
But when you pair it with an article about the Xbox One “going cheap”, it implies a connection between going cheap and being Mexican, and it’s my opinion that that is a little insensitive.
Edit: Perhaps that’s not how Geoffrey meant it, but that’s how it read to me when I saw it pop up on my news feed this morning.

Nobody is inventing a reason to be offended. The sombrero and mustache are Mexican stereotypes, and when paired with the article title, could sound offensive to some.
If you’re not offended, there’s nothing wrong with that. Nobody’s down on you. Like I said above though, there’s no harm in being aware that someone might be offended by it.

On the topic of purchasing consoles: So I currently have an xbox 360 which i love, however with the whole “DRM and no second hand game selling from microsoft” debacle (before the next gens were released) I decided that Msoft can go screw themselves and PS4 would be my next console. I have found a bundle for R7000 (console, 2xcontrollers, camera, driveclub and last of us) was wondering if its a good deal, i don’t care much for the camera (or for driveclub) and was thinking of selling it. What do you guys think? advice would be great.
