What games will be available for the local Wii U Launch?

2 min read

The Wii U has launched in the US already, and will be hitting our shores at the end of this week. In the US, it launched with an impressive 23 titles – with 25 games accompanying the UK launch. so how many of those games will make it to the south African launch of Nintendo’s next console?

According to Nintendo South Africa, just 17 – and these are they:

Funky Barn
Call of Duty®: Black Ops II™
Skylanders Giants™
Transformers Prime™
EA Sports™ FIFA 13
Mass Effect™ 3 Special Edition
Nintendo Land
New Super Mario Bros. U
Warriors Orochi® 3 Hyper
Assassin’s Creed® III
Just Dance® 4
Rabbids® Land
Sports Connection™
Your Shape®: Fitness Evolved 2013

That would mean that either we’ll be missing out on the following launch titles, or there’s just been some sort of miscommunication between local distributors.

Batman: Arkham City Armoured Edition
Ben 10: Omniverse
Darksiders 2
Disney’s Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two
Family Party: 30 Great Games – Obstacle Arcade
Game Party Champions
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed

It seems we will be getting those games – but they’ll be coming a little later than they should have, missing the launch weekend. If you were planning on picking any of those up for your new Wii U, you may have to wait a bit.

Editor. I'm old, grumpy and more than just a little cynical. One day, I found myself in possession of a NES, and a copy of Super Mario Bros 3. It was that game that made me realise that games were more than just toys to idly while away time - they were capable of being masterpieces. I'm here now, looking for more of those masterpieces.
