With action comedy The Heat opening this Friday in South Africa – which stars Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy as mismatched law enforcement officers – today we want to know who your favourite buddy cop pairings are in the long American cinematic tradition? Riggs and Murtaugh? Burnett and Lowrey? Angel and Butterman? Let us know below.

Sort but sweet. Sam Jackson and The Rock in The Other Guys.

Just a few cop buddy movies I really enjoyed.
Lethal Weapon (best imo), Black Rain, Red Heat, The Last Boy Scout (does it count?), The Other Guys and Chris Tucker/Chan was decent in the Rush Hour movies.

Thought we were talking action/comedy but if not then here are a few that don’t stick to the rules but are awesome movies with cop partnerships:

        Seven
        Training Day
        NARC
        Rush
        End of Watch
        The Guard
        Red Heat

    Riggs and Murtaugh

Too many great lines but these stuck out:

    “They’ve been de-kaffir-nated!”

“I’m too old for this shit!”

Martin Riggs: What I wouldn’t give for a siren right now!
Roger Murtaugh: [sticking his head out the car window] Aawwwww!

Yup, Lethal Weapon 2 at the end of the movie. The whole SA connection thing was really funny and that line prob only got laughs in SA.

Also loved it when Joss Ackland asked the main henchman Pieter:
        “What are you doing man?”
“I was just checking to see if I was standing on plastic.”

Bad Boys’ Martin Lawrence and Will Smith is a worthy mention, but Riggs and Murtaugh for Lethal Weapon was the best for me.

Glad to see Red Heat get a few mentions.

48 Hours, Showtime and most of the films mentioned below.
