Gotham is home to lots of killers, but when you need to bury some evidence, there’s only one pyromaniac you need to call. He’s called the Firefly, and in Arkham Origins, he’s burning to get his hands on that $50 million bounty on the head of the Dark Knight.

Biography

Garfield Lynns wasn’t born to be a criminal. Instead, he was a successful pyrotechnics expert on several films and carved a name for himself as an expert in his field of special effects.

Gotham City had different plans in mind for Lynns however, and the ruined economy and poverty of that city eventually saw Lynns lose his job. Broke and down on his luck, Lynns turned to crime, but was captured during his first robbery by Batman and Robin.

Firefly (2)

Inspired by the myth that Batman had built around himself, and using fireflies as a basis, Lynns transformed himself into an arsonist for hire. Now known as Firefly, Lynns took on several arson jobs, developing a severe case of pyromania in the process. In fact, his pyromania became so rabid, that Lynns became convinced that he could see visions inside the flames that he started.

Firefly would have numerous encounters with Batman, battling the caped crusader during the events of Knightfall and several more times, before a fateful encounter left him with burns over 90% of his body after he was caught on the wrong side of a chemical factory explosion.

Firefly (4)

Barely surviving, Firefly would continue to make appearances in the DCU, alive and still in love with the flames…
