What happens when you merge the animation quality of Studio Ghibli with a fantastic role-playing game experience? You get Ni No Kuni, one of the more charming JRPGs to emerge in recent years. While a sequel was unexpected, it wasn’t exactly unwelcome as fans prepared themselves for a journey into the Revenant Kingdom. Bad news: Said journey will have to wait a little bit longer, as Ni No Kuni 2 has been delayed from November 10 through to until January 19 in 2018.

Situated in a cosy wing of the Cape Town International Convention Center, FanCon played host to the likes of Top Cow big cheese Tom Hawkins, legendary comic book writer Ron Marz, John “Chew” Layman and Eric “Hillbilly” Powell. It built on a tremendous first outing that kicked off in 2016, growing even larger in 2017. FanCon grows even bigger this year, as the dates for the 2018 show have been announced: April 28-29.

Square Enix announced that the Team Ninja developed final fisticuffs simulator will hit PlayStation 4 consoles in 2018 under the name of Dissidia Final Fantasy NT because I’m dead certain that the names for these titles are chosen via the trusty dartboard method.

Almost entirely expected, Rockstar has delayed Red Dead Redemption 2. The western sequel will now launch in 2018.

Sony is feeling pretty confident that the 23rd time may be the charm at getting a Venom solo movie off the ground. According to The Hollywood Reporter and ERC, Sony doesn’t just have a greenlight for a Venom movie that’ll be completely unrelated (for now I’d guess) to the current incarnation of Spidey, but a date as well for release: October 5 of 2018.

It sounds like 2017 will be bereft of an Assassin’s Creed entry as well,as Ubisoft wants to make the next entry in the franchise worth the wait.
