In an age where every game is attempting to be the be-all and end-all of its genre, the idea of the blockbuster has lost its magic, leading to a ho-hum reaction and less excitement for every new title revealed with the power of a million PR firms going supernova on the hype blitz. Eventually, the industry is going to reach a point where it needs to seriously look at how they provide their consumers with value, and the sooner that epiphany arrives the better.

Remedy has revealed that two games are currently in development: One is a balls to the wall AAA project, whilst the other is a sister project on a smaller scale that’ll accompany it.

Ubisoft is the AAA game studio in the industry today due to their entire business model being based on massive live service sandboxes. With more hits than misses in their arsenal, the company always has something cooking away in one of its many kitchens and after a bit of a quiet period in the latter half of 2019, they’ve got some big plans for 2020 and beyond.

According to CD Projekt Red, development on multiplayer is still at least two years away, but the wait will be more than worth it when it does finally make a splash.

PUBG Corp. have announced that they’ll be branching out into AAA game territory with a new title set within the PUBG Universe, and it’ll feature none other than Dead Space and Call of Duty mastermind Glen Schofield heading up new studio Striking Distance for project, which has been labelled as an “original narrative experience”.

"Instead we spent too much effort trying to catch up with other AAA titles in terms of their production values and features. That was a big mistake," says Sniper Ghost Warrio developer CI Games.
