You thought the lack of achievements was a mistake? No no no, it’s all intentional and Ubisoft plans on implementing the new “challenge” system in all future games.

After a year on the drawing board, it seems that we’re finally getting to a point where Epic can proudly proclaim, “Achievement Unlocked!”

Earlier this year, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics announced that their grindy, sort of live-service take on the Marvel’s Avengers wouldn’t be ready for release in May as anticipated, but would instead hit in September. It needs the time for a bit of spit and polish, but it seems the story beats are already sufficiently mapped out for the game’s trophies and achievements to be out.

The hunt for achievements (and trophies) doesn’t seem to be quite as pronounced this generation. In the days of the Xbox 360, achievement hunting was a worthy sport, and the internet was littered with guides on getting the things in the ultimate pursuit of having a high Gamerscore. While it still happens, there’s far less of it about.

The king of achievement hunting has been thrown from his throne after taking some time off, breaking a 11 year record in the process.

By now, you’d expect the line-up to be complete in Injustice 2. You’ve got Superman’s regime on one side, Batman’s resistance on the other and Gorilla Grodd’s Society caught in the middle of the reignited civil war between heroes and villains. There’s one other face that you haven’t seen so far. A certain wild card who’ll also pop up to throw a crowbar at Brainiac’s plans for global domination.
