Hollywood is evidently at it again: taking iconic video game heroine Lara Croft and de-powering her by turning her into a daddy's girl. Or at least that's how trailers make the upcoming Tomb Raider movie reboot look.

It’s here! It’s finally here! Years after Angelina Jolie first holstered up with a pair of iconic pistols, it’s time for Tomb Raider to be reborn. So without any further ado, here’s the first trailer starring Alicia Vikander stepping into the boots of Lara Croft, as the next Tomb Raider.

I had high hopes for the new Tomb Raider, with up-and-coming Norwegian director, The Wave's Roar Uthaug at the helm. I still believe Vikander will do an exceptional job as Lara Croft. However, so far everything to do with the production has looked slapdash and underwhelming. I suspect I'm not the only one to feel this way. Here's hoping that later today the full trailer restores our evaporated faith.
