Good news for fans of Behemoth’s excellent medieval slash’em-up – the king is finally a playable character, thanks to some new DLC. Available for just 160 MSP, the “King Pack” boasts a few nice additions that’ll hopefully re-invigorate interest in the game. Castle Crashers was unfortunately beset with game-breaking bugs upon release – including its fundamental online co-op feature being …

Castle Crashers Patch Almost Here

By Nick De Bruyne

If you, like me were one of the people that forked out a bunch of Microsoft Points to get your hands on the beat-em-up title Castle Crashers on Xbox Live, only to find out that the best part (online co-op) was plagued with connectivity and lag issues, then this is a bit of good news. There was no doubt that the biggest reason for anyone connected to Xbox Live to get the game was to experience the great arcade action that the game had to offer together with some friends. We all downloaded the game, started playing and were then hit with a ton of issues. This lead me to the decision to pretty much leave the game alone until a patch came out to fix it so that I could properly enjoy the experience that I had been looking forward to for so long. Problem is, that the patch has now taken over 3 months to arrive, so where is it and why are we all waiting so long? The guys at Xbox360Fanboy seem to feel the same way and so they got ahold of Behemoth to try and get some sort of answer with regards to the progress of the patch. Behemoth were happy to respond and have said the following: "We're working with Microsoft to get the title update out as quickly as we can. Sadly, we can't get into details about the certification process, but we've resolved the game's issues with data loss and networking in addition to other bugs. We can't really comment on the release yet as we're not allowed to talk about it because of Microsoft, but the update's release is definitely reaching the end of the process. We've received great support from our fans on our forums in identifying issues. That feedback has helped out a lot and we're really honored to have such an awesome group of fans in the community." Hopefully this means that the patch will be available in not too long (If we are lucky it will be before everyone goes on holiday) and we can all finally kick some ass online with our buddies.

The Castle Crashers patch is finally on its way, I’ve held off playing the game too much because of the bugs and the fact that I can’t play with my friends. But there is hope. According to a recent post on developer The Behemoth’s blog, they’re hard at work putting the finishing touches on the game’s first title update. Last …

So right now, Behemoth should be fully concentrated on fixing the online issues but once that is done they are going to be releasing DLC. The DLC will have two new playable characters, the King and the Necromancer. It will also contain the much anticipated chainsaw. Something which was never in the game for those who spent their time running …

Castle Crashers Online Fix Coming Soon

By Nick De Bruyne

Great news for Castle Crashers fans. Behemoth have posted an update on their sites blog saying the following: "We just got off the phone with Microsoft and we had a great talk about updating Castle Crashers, YES!! Looks like we’re on our way to getting this title update out and the bigger issues like saving and online connectivity resolved, in addition to other bugs that have been reported." They suggest that anyone currently experiencing issues should try and host games instead of join them, although that didn't work for me when I tried it out. So when can we expect the update? "We just got off the phone with Microsoft and we had a great talk about updating Castle Crashers, YES!! Looks like we’re on our way to getting this title update out and the bigger issues like saving and online connectivity resolved, in addition to other bugs that have been reported." Well even though we don't know when it will be available it looks like it will be ready fairly soon and then we call all finally enjoy a 4 player online experience.

Castle Crashers Experiencing Online Issues

By Nick De Bruyne

As reported yesterday, the long awaited beat-em-up, Castle Crashers, was finally released for Xbox Live Arcade. While the games is enjoying a very positive reception it seems that there are issues with online play being experienced worldwide. We managed to get our hands on the game yesterday to give it a bash and it is proving to be a heck of a lot of fun. The only issue comes in when trying to play online. The game seems to be suffering from issues that cause the game to begin lagging and then ultimately drop completely. At first we thought it was down to an issue on our side (more specifically my side) but we eventually went onto the internet to see if the rest of the world was having issues as well. On the TeamXbox forums, I managed to find an official Castle Crashers thread that had many a member complaining about issues with games dropping and freezing. In other local tests some of the SA guys managed to play with 2 - 3 people for long periods of time but none have yet been successful when a 4th was added. Other games just died out after mere minutes. I have checked the official Castle Crashers website but at the moment they are experiencing issues with their server being flooded so I can't check to see if they have officially recognised the issue. With complaints arising worldwide I am sure that it is only a matter of time until the problem is sorted out with a patch but till then, be warned. If you are specifically downloading the game for online play then you might be disappointed when the games keep dropping so I suggest that you hang back and wait for a patch. Either that or you could go buy some beers and extra controllers and invite some friends over for an evening of mayhem. That's the way that we did it back in the olden days, remember?
