Command & Conquer Remastered Collection is the gold standard for what a blast from the past should and can be, as Petroglyph’s efforts have resulted in a handsome and hefty package of classic strategy, passion and modern-day improvements.

In a Reddit Ask Me Anything session last night, Lead Producer Jim Vessella took to the virtual stage to chat all things Command & Conquer with fans, answering a ton of questions regarding everything from gameplay improvements, multiplayer concerns and if there’d be mission-exclusive Orca units with laser beams attached to their frikken’ heads when the game launches on June 5. Here’s the massive round-up of all the questions and the answers that came from that mammoth session!

For all the fun that we throw towards America and their WILD society, it’s hard to deny that we have a lot of love for the regular people across the pond. They’ve got a national pride that cannot be measured, they’re actually a friendly lot whose confidence is inspiring and they’re responsible for 97% of every inspiring speech in movies today. So with that in mind, here’s a look at several games from years past, that made me want to pump my fist into the air and yell America hell yeah!

There’s a brilliant little strategy game here, one that deserves plenty of love and none of the usual mobile gaming stigma that usually comes bundled with these experiences. For a game that is entirely free and still offers plenty of entertainment without spending a single cent on it, that’s not a bad deal at all.

You start out with a pistol. You eventually graduate to a weapon that spits out bullets at a faster pace or a shotgun that feels like a gentle summer breeze caressing you if its buckshot lands from a distance that’s greater than 25cm. You’ve got your regular death-dealers, saving the more exotic weapons in your arsenal for tougher opponents as ammo ain’t exactly plentiful for these guns in particular. Then you get your hands on that weapon.

RTS games are very very far from being dead, but they’re also nowhere near as industry-defining as they once were. They’re the domain of a niche audience now, a genre for the patient and those who enjoy investing their time into hours of preparation before kickstarting a war on a global scale. Command and Conquer was the very best in this genre, before it was killed off for good.

EA’s latest efforts were distracting enough to plaster over old wounds as the likes of Anthem and Unravel 2 earned plenty of love from anyone watching. In case you missed it, here’s the usual handy breakdown of everything that EA had to offer this year.
