After blowing us all away with the gloriously unhinged WWII horror flick Overlord, Julius Avery has been tapped by Universal to reboot the studio's classic monster-hunting hero Van Helsing

After being scrapped in the eleventh hour after Universal's Dark Universe failure, a modern-day reboot of classic movie monster Bride of Frankenstein is once again in production. And all it took was a little global pandemic.

Following on from the success of The Invisible Man, Universal and Ryan Gosling are bringing a very intriguing and modern take of The Wolf Man to screen.

After giving up on their Dark Universe, it seems Universal may be after making movies about the lesser-known characters in their monster franchises.

When it was recently announced that Blumhouse Productions would be developing a new version of The Invisible Man, some thought it may be the resurrection Universal's failed movie monster cinematic universe. That is not the case though.

Universal's Dark Universe experiment is officially gone, destroyed by The Mummy's massive failure. Now the studio is doing what so many said they should do originally and making proper monster movies with people who know how to do horror, starting with Leigh Whannell directing The Invisible Man.

Just when you thought you could put the idea of yet another shared Universe of monsters behind you - it turns out Universal still has some plans to try and make their Dark Universe work.

For a franchise built around monsters that raise from the grave, I guess it’s only apt that Universal’s Dark Universe is getting some life back. Well, one part of it at least.
