You look at Nightwing, and you don’t just see Batman’s protege. You see a hero who is better than the caped crusader, not in his physical abilities but in his healthy mental attitude and approach to life. Whereas Bruce Wayne’s alter-ego is fuelled by the pain and regret of his childhood, Dick Grayson has overcome that torment and established himself as a vigilante with a smile. Those days are over.

Hope, potential and family. For decades, those have been the key themes that have united the Teen Titans, DC’s signature team of heroes who represent the next generation of crimefighting in that particular universe. Titans isn’t that kind of series. Instead, the new series from the DC Universe streaming service is a dark, moody and violent reboot of the classic property that starts with Robin saying “F*** Batman”. So pretty much the inverse of Teen Titans Go then. Here’s the first trailer for it

How does a superhero fight a menace that can’t be stopped with a good ol’ one-two across the jaw? That’s the question that former boy wonder Dick Grayson will have to answer in the latest issue of Nightwing by Benjamin Percy and Christopher Mooneyham, as he fights the dark web of the internet itself.

The former boy wonder is going to be going off the rails slightly in Nightwing: New Order. Metahumans are a tad too prevalent in the DCU, and somebody has to level the playing field for ordinary humans who happen to have been trained to peak physical perfection by the world’s greatest detective. That somebody happens to be Nightwing, as he’ll spend the next decade wiping out the metahuman populace in a world where superpowers are illegal.
