Weekend box office report 18 - 20 January 2019: As expected Glass took the top spot, but didn't meet studio expectations. Meanwhile, Dragon Ball Super: Broly kamehameha'd its way right into 3rd place!
If any one single character was deserving of a smash of the reset button, it certainly is Broly. You can’t think of the legendary Super Saiyan as a villain who can match wits with Frieza or pursue perfection like Cell did. Broly is a force of nature, Saiyan power that is unleashed and unstoppable when pointed in a certain direction. That’s the vibe that I’m getting in the latest trailer for Dragon Ball Super: Broly, which showcases the son of Paragus in action.
Broly’s threat has never been part of the official Dragon Ball canon. He’s always existed in some small universe of his own, filled with what if stories and adventures that don’t reflect on the core narrative that Dragon Ball Z and the Super series are built around. That’s all changing, as the Legendary Super Saiyan finally smashes his way into history in December’s Dragon Ball Super: Broly.
