Destiny 2’s Black Armory may have been so disappointing that I actually decided to put the game down for the rest of 2018 and well into 2019, but the latest seasonal change has me itching to grab a few high-power bounties and get my Guardian ready for a leaner and meaner take on Gambit. Season of the Drifter may be focused on a darker side of humanity’s relationship with the light, but it’s also ready to scratch that itch for more Exotic loot.

Alright alright alright let’s see what we’ve got! IDIOT TEAMMATES ON THE FIELD BETTER BRING A SWORD! Destiny 2’s Gambit mode is easily the greatest highlight of the post-Forsaken era. It’s fast-paced, high on action and usually results in some tight races to the finish when matches go the full distance. As fun as it is, Gambit could do with a few fixes and Destiny developer Bungie is looking to fine-tune the experience even further.

Want to give Destiny 2's new Gambit mode a whirl, without having to spend money on the Forsaken expansion to do so? Well for 24 hours, you'll be able to do just that when Bungie launches a brief trial run of their new arena mode that pits Guardians against one another.

It’s Infamy that Guardians will earn in Gambit, with several ranks available to blast through in the PvPvE mode when Forsaken arrives next month.

A darker story, an emphasis on fun over balance and an honest effort to get players reinvested in the hobby of Destiny, Bungie is going for broke with its most ambitious slice of content yet in Destiny 2:Forsaken. While there’s still a lot that needs t be revealed and explored once it launches, design lead Lars Bakken still had plenty to tell me at E3 last week about the massive changes on the horizon.

The PlayStation 4 already has plenty of those smaller budget games available. And it’s going to get a lot more.
