SKATE IS DEAD! EA WILL NEVER MAKE A SKATE GAME EVER AGAIN! At least that’s the drama that unfolded on Friday when news popped up of Electronic Arts abandoning the trademark for Skate, leading many an armchair pundit to declare the franchise well and truly dead. Not exactly.
EA's Weekend League saw the cream of the digital football crop face off against each for prizes, glory and entry into other events. Or at least that was the plan, until some collusion threw a massive spanner into the works.
It’s PvE campaign may be a bit of a wash despite the Looney tunes approach, but if you’re looking for some addictive multiplayer action that hasn’t changed too much between instalments, Plants vs Zombies: Battle for Neighborville is still a chaotic start to the day that is packed full of vitamin C for crazy.

2K’s unfathomably popular NBA2K series isn’t the only basketball game in town. Or rather, it usually isn’t, but is for now. EA boss Andrew Wilson has confirmed that EA’s binned its own NBA Live 20 this year, and will instead focus on the ne3xt generation of consoles when it returns to the court with its own game.
This generation’s been one filled with remastered and remakes, and while some of them have been outstanding (yes, I’m talking about you, Resident Evil 2 ), other have barely been given a facelift. Given what we know about the next-generation of consoles, we should see fewer remakes and remasters from companies keen to exploit their existing libraries for quick cash.
Long story short: No new Battlefield game until the next consoles are out, which EA totally aren’t losing sleep over thanks to Apex Legends and Battlefield 5 currently pumping more cash into their coffers while I stay up at night crying about how Titanfall deserved better.
