PSPGo! Battery not Removable, Pirates to Blame

By Geoffrey Tim

We’ve received confirmation that Sony’s redesigned PSP would be hitting local retail shelves soon – Great news, as its sleek, slidey design fills me with wanton techno lust. Smaller than the PSP-3000, the device is finally diminutive enough to fit comfortable in one’s pocket. If you’re a seasoned traveller though, there is a caveat. The PSPGo, unlike its fatter sibling …

One of the original selling points of the PS3 was that you were able to load Linux onto it and use it as an all powerful server / Skynet apprentice. Well apparently one of the caveats of the new PS3 Slim is that this functionality will no longer be available and you are going to have to use your PS3 …

Sony are going to have to take a look at how they are upgrading the firmware on the PS3 as it is just a complete and utter waste of money at the moment. Along with various other additions and improvements, Sony have announced that the new 2.50 Firmware for the Playstation 3 is going to add support for Flash 9. Welcome to a world of Youtube, Flash games and tons of annoying adverts! But seriously, this is going to be a fantastic addition, especially with the fact that Sony has now officially launched a YouTube channel specifically for the PS3. A list of additional improvements, after the jump. * Pads and the PS3 itself now have tweakable power-save settings for turning off after a period of inactivity. * You can tell the PS3 to power down once it's finished downloading or installing content. * In-game screenshots can be taken in compatible games. * It enables high-quality mode for the official PS3 Bluetooth headset. * The Trophy interface has been improved, so you can see you and your friends' progress more easily. * Friends now have their last login time listed. * Videos now have a scene search feature. * There's a button on the PlayStation Store frontpage for redeeming codes.

By Nick De Bruyne

PSNmaintenance.jpg No PSN isn't broken but it has been down for some maintenance. The Metal Gear Online site has posted this statement saying: PSN Maintenance 26.08.2008 Maintenance will be undertaken on the “PLAYSTATION(R) NETWORK” between August 26th 16:00-21:00 (BST). During these times, customers may be momentarily unable to connect to the PLAYSTATION(R) Network . Please try after some time should this happen. After publishing some rumours recently about a possible date for the Home Extended Beta , Playstation news site FeedOnPS3.com is reporting that they think that this maintenance could be more than meets the eye. On their site, they say the following: We have just got word that on 08.26.08 (tomorrow) between 8:00-13:00 PDT the PlayStation Network will be down. We are skeptic, but this “Scheduled Maintenance” can be pertaining to the Home Extended Beta, or possibly even Life with PlayStation. This latest rumor would add up with the rumor we have previously reported. Only time can tell what is to come. Let's wait and see how things turn out.
