Ghost Recon: Breakpoint should have been a good game, following in the heels of the decidedly fun, if not a little jingoistic Wildlands. It was, unfortunately, not. For some reason, Breakpoint was a bit of a mess at launch – and is still far from the game it should be. But it's getting better!
If I were to be generous, I’d say that Ghost Recon Breakpoint is not a very good game. Thankfully, Ubisoft has realised that it’s not a great game and has pledged to fix it up.
I think it’s safe to say that Ghost Recon: Breakpoint is not, as it stands, a very good game. The game was savaged by critics, who found it both janky and generic – which is never a good combination. One f the things I appreciate most about Ubisoft though is that they’re willing to stand by their games, making even the most middling ones significantly better. While I’m not sure it’s possible to polish a turd to a sheen, Ubisoft is going to try anyway. They’ve outlined the big changes coming to Breakpoint as they do their best to mould into something worth playing.

Let it never be said that Ghost Recon: Breakpoint is a game without ideas. Great ideas, terrible ideas, and even some great ideas implemented terribly, I’ve seen them all thus far in the 20 or so hours I’ve spent with this latest entry in Ubisoft’s tactical military shooter franchise. Then there are ideas borrowed from other games only half of which seem to actually belong here.
