The French publisher and developer kept things short and sweet this year, saving its biggest gun for last while providing plenty of updates for many of its other games. Ubisoft have revealed that Year Two of Ghost Recon Breakpoint will kick off with the return of Splinter Cell’s favourite operative, Sam Fisher. He’ll be joining the soldiers on the ground, to fight back against Not-The-Punisher, his mobs of cannon fodder goons and possibly the Terminator. What a time to be alive.
Compared to The Division 2 and its glorious emphasis on maths as you take cover, Ghost Recon Breakpoint in its current form is just lacking a certain oomph to help set itself apart from the pact. Ubisoft is hoping to rectify that with the “biggest, most complex update” they’ve got in their post-launch arsenal, a feature called Immersive mode that’ll amp up the challenge and “address many of the top concerns raised by our community” according to the publisher in a new update.
The survival aspects that were hyped ahead of Breakpoint’s launch don’t offer much other than an annoying limp should you cock up in battle, and the tiered loot system is alright at best. Ubisoft has promised a fix for those legitimate criticisms, one that was expected by the end of February but it looks like this new immersive mode is taking a little longer to be perfectly cooked.
The limited time event will see players attempting to quell the rise of killer robots and cyborgs while earning exclusive in-game loot.
