In the not too distant future, we won’t have fancy gaming consoles or unnecessarily beefy PCs to play games on. We’ll have weaker machines that stream games in real time from giant server farms, with the information beaming back and forth over the internet. It’s something that’s already happening with service like PlayStation Now. The next big one may come from Google.

Things are changing in the YouTube scene right now though. In the past, being eligible for monetisation wasn’t exactly insurmountable as YouTube required content producers to notch up 10 000 views on their channel before they could monetise their videos. A bit of hard work, self promotion and slipping $5 to a Chinese website to earn those views made it an achievable milestone for many a would-be YouTube superstar. That’s all in the past as of now.

While Artificial Intelligence is fascinating, incredible and all sorts of other shiny superlatives, it is also terrifying. If you’ll recall, Google’s DeepMind created an AI that bested the world’s best Go players. It’s an incredibly complex Chinese board game that takes years to master. The AI learned how to play it in just 8 hours. Now, a descendent of that AI, called AlphaZero - has beaten the world’s top chess program, Stockfish.
