The free games included with each console’s online subscriptions have been middling of late, but I must admit that June’s Instant Game Collection for PlayStation 4 owners is pretty sweet. The only problem? I already own both. Sucks to be me. The games that PlayStation 4 owners who subscribe to PlayStation Plus will be able to download next month are Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, and Sonic Mania, both of which are excellent.

Borderlands 3 is coming later this year, and I’m increasingly becoming excited for it. That’s despite the fact that every time Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford seems to open his mouth, stupidity flows out of it. Games aren’t made by single people in vacuums though, so I’m happy to support the hundreds of people making the game, when evidence suggests their boss might not be the nicest person on the planet. I’m veering off topic though. The point is that we’re getting more Borderlands – but we might be getting even more than anticipated.

With Borderlands favouring ce-shading and comic book colour palettes instead of attempting to bridge the uncanny valley divide, the series has managed to give itself not only a longer visual shelf life, but a platform that has been improved upon…handsomely.

With Borderlands 3 on the horizon and the current crop of games having a better visual presentation lately, you might want to hop in and stock up on the golden keys that’ll unlock some high-calibre goodies for you.

You're going to need the best guns in order to survive Pandora. And fortunately, you can get those with some good ol' golden keys in Borderlands.

The very first Borderlands game is nowhere to be found in the upcoming Handsome Collection. But it could still be remastered.

It looks like one of the final pieces of DLC for the Pre-Sequel, will be focusing on a bridge.
