Following the failure of Paul Feig's 2016 Ghostbusters reboot, Sony is taking things back to where they began as the studio has tapped Jason Reitman, the two-time Oscar-nominated son of original Ghostbusters filmmaker Ivan Reitman, to direct/co-write a direct sequel to those 1980s classics.

In case you thought the long silence meant that we could finally forget about the horrible idea for a Twins sequel. Think again, it turns out the script is just about finished and ready to film.

2016's reboot of Ghostbusters was a colossal failure, finding neither favour with critics or audiences. The studio still believes in the franchise though, but while they go back to the drawing board, they want to release in an animated movie.

I’m just not interested in it in any way whatsoever, and will most likely happily rewatch the original films when that one is released.
