At about 12 hours in, I feel like I’m barely scratching the surface of Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Just when I think the game has nothing else to teach me, up pops a new tutorial or gameplay feature that changes how I play or see the game. Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a game that prides itself on (possibly revisionist) historical accuracy. So, in the name of historical accuracy, the game only lets players save the game when they rest at a bed, complete quest objectives or drink an initially hard-to-acquire item called Saviour schnapps. Many players have found this tiresome in an otherwise good RPG, as it means it’s easy to lose hours of progress in the Bohemian landscape.
While Kingdom Come: Deliverance claims that it has the best hardcore steel on steel sword-swinging action around, it’s also the kind of game that rewards you for taking the high ground and getting rid of foes with some well-placed archery. The only problem currently, is that notching an arrow and letting it fly isn’t exactly a user-friendly experience.
