Ever since PlayStation Plus started doling out freebies on the PlayStation 4, people have been clamouring for Knack to hit the service. The entirely decent platformer wasn’t especially well received when it was a launch title, and many expected it to be one of the first games to be dished out on the system.

For a launch title, Knack was…well it wasn’t bad. It had plenty of charm and it looked stunning at the time, but the game suffered from a few atrocious flaws that prevented it from being an instant classic. A sequel would be welcome, provided that a few fundamental improvements were made over at PlayStation’s Japan Studio. Ideas and improvements that the team behind Knack 2 wanted in the first game but couldn’t manage the first time around.

Knack 2 is trying to be a compelling co-operative experience, and its many new mechanics are helping to realise that dream.
