LittleBigPlanet sales – what went wrong?

By Gavin Mannion

I have to say I have been completely blindsided by the low sales of LittleBigPlanet. It’s not that they are terrible as LBP has now sold 735k units worldwide and should easily cross the million barrier before the end of the year. And we have always said that a million units is the magic mark where a game suddenly becomes …

LittleBigPlanet – Why have the gamers forsaken it?

By Gavin Mannion
November 18, 2008

Please say the poor sales of LBP are just a blip, it’s just because it wasn’t out for very long in October is all and we can expect to see awesome sales throughout the month of November I am sure. Please say that’s the case because I can’t accept that gamers the world over are not taken with Sackboy. Last …

Should games get extra points for innovation

By Gavin Mannion

Innovation, it’s the word that defines this generation in either a positive or negative light. You are either on the side that feels this generation is full of innovation from the Blu-Ray playing PS3, to the motion controlling Wii to the Internet integrated 360. Or you are on the side negative side that feels the Wii is a toy, Blu-Ray …

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has laid down the basics for what will land your Little Big Planet level in the bin, according to a post on VideoGaming247. The company’s statement says that SCEE is “committed to continually improving our moderation procedure, in particular regarding the reasons that user complaints are upheld.” But, for the time being, they say there are …

So the two big FPS titles have been released and the first weeks sales estimates are in. It never was going to be a real competition but I did expect something a little closer. Gears of War 2 – 1 468 366 Resistance 2 – 304 958 That’s 1.1 million fewer sales for Resistance 2, I don’t think the winner …

Dangerous LBP Glitch

When I saw the title “Dangerous LittleBigPlanet Glitch” I really thought someone was being silly and over reacting… I mean what can be dangerous about a glitch in a game? Well this one pretty much destroys your LBP game as Sackboy will just constantly keep on instantly dying when you try to play LBP. Even after restarting your PS3. Now …

200810310102.jpg In an interview with GamePro, Eric Fong, associate producer on LittleBigPlanet answered a few questions asked to them by the site. The first of which, was whether or not Media Molecule continue to release new levels, to which Fong replied: "Yes, Media Molecule is continuing to add to the player experience with new levels, costumes, materials, and a host of other content." Some good news for LBP fans. The more support is given for LBP, the stronger it will become at keeping gamers in their game. Gamers have also been promised that they will be able to sell their creations for real money. More after the jump. Gamepro also asked when users will be able to "sell" their creations for real money, which was promised by Media Molecule in a report from Reuters . Fong replied saying that: "There are still a lot of details that need to be worked out, that's pretty much all I can say at this point." I sincerely hope that Media Molecule didn't make a promise before they knew whether or not they could actually keep it. Let's see how it all plays out.

LittleBigPlanet Server Issue Update

By Nick De Bruyne
October 30, 2008

You may have heard a lot of ranting and raving go happening on the net because the newly up-and-running LittleBigPlanet servers are not so up-and-running at the moment. There has now been a message posted on the US Playstation blogs that say the following: The LittleBigPlanet servers have been experiencing significant problems throughout the past 24 hours affecting the online game experience. We are working round the clock on the solution to the current issues and we expect the service to improve very shortly. Offline Play and Create will still function properly during any disruption. Please accept our apologies for any frustration this may cause for the time being. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean that they will be ready soon, just as soon as possible. I hope for all the LBP owners' sakes that it happens sooner rather than later. It really sucks to have to put up with online issues.
