Midnight Club Los Angeles – Garage Video

By Nick De Bruyne

The people from Megarom have supplied us with a brand new trailer of Midnight Club Los Angeles. This trailer shows off a bit of the features that will involve car customisations and such. I haven't played a Midnight Club since the second one and I paid no attention to the DUB edition either. This one on the other hand is a different story, it's looking pretty interesting at the moment and the Grand Theft Auto 4 engine is doing a really good job from what I have seen so far although it does make the game look fairly similar in its visual style. Then again, that may not be a bad thing at all.

The PS3 is getting exclusive Mirror’s Edge DLC

There were rumours a short while back that Mirror’s Edge was going to be a PS3 exclusive. As insane as this idea was it had to be officially denied by EA Games and Sony, however it seems that the source of this rumour was something a little more plausible. Sony has announced that it has an exclusive marketing deal with …

Microsoft has officially come out to clarify the confusion that is currently swirling around the Gears of War 2 debacle… What debacle you may ask? Well I asked the same thing as this is the first I had heard about it. Apparently a bunch of PC gamers got very upset because it was rumoured that Gears of War 2 …

Yesterday Megarom announced that Ubisoft will be working in conjunction with GeoEye, a provider of satellite, aerial and geospatial technology, to use high resolution images taken from their earth-imaging satellite  for integration in Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. That means that all three versions of the game (pc/ps3/360) will have the players flying over GeoEye-provided satellite imagery in a three dimensional environment. …

Microsoft cuts Xbox 360 accessory prices

By Gavin Mannion

One of the biggest, and most valid, complaints against the Xbox 360 is the completely overpriced accessories for the thing. Not only does the 360 not come with built in wireless but it costs over R1000 to add the functionality in. So when I saw a headline this morning stating that the prices were going to be dropped I though …

Is the PS3 really catching up to the Xbox 360?

By Nick De Bruyne

With PS3 sales overtaking Xbox 360 sales in the last couple of months there have been many articles and reports flying around the internet saying that the PS3 is finally starting to catch up to the 360 and may possibly even overtake it soon. Interesting concept, except for the fact that it's flawed. The current sales of the Xbox 360 and PS3 on VGchartz are as follows: Xbox 360: 20.44 Million Playstation 3: 15.05 Million The thing is, that if you look at the console sales, you can see that the gap in sales between the PS3 and Xbox 360 is still roughly the same as it was when the PS3 was launched. This means that in the current state, the sales of the PS3 are at best only matching the sales of the Xbox 360 even though sales for Sony's console have picked up recently. The PS3 is indeed becoming more popular and the past problems with the Xbox 360's hardware have made quite a difference. However, we all know that the Xbox 360 is going to be the only console offering HD next-gen gaming at the magic price of $199 US dollars. As we have stated in previous articles, come Christmas time, parents are going to be flocking to stores to ensure a truckload of new foul mouthed children join us on Xbox Live and when they do, the low price of the Xbox 360 is going to be incredibly tempting, especially with Nintendo's Wii suffering from shortages abroad. As much as the PS3 enjoys strong brand recognition and a a large fanbase from the PS2 generation, the purchasing decisions are that of the parents and not the children and when the price is right, the parents are all for it. So how is the the future of the PS3 looking? We spend so much time discussing exclusive titles and graphics comparisons that we forget that at the end of the day it largely comes down to parents, standing in a store, staring at shelves with PS3's and Xbox 360's on them. They don't care about MGS4 and Gears of War 2. They see a low price tag on one of them "new console thingamajigs" and the truth is, its not the PS3. It seems pretty obvious which one is going to be leaving in their trolley.

New Xbox Live Dashboard Update Video

By Nick De Bruyne

A new video has been made available from PAX of a dashboard walkthrough done by none other than Major Nelson. The new video is about as shaky as Cloverfield and The Blair With Project put together but its decent enough that you can see what's happening without any issues. He covers a whole bunch of the new features, from the ability to preview themes to the new party mode and avatars. I am getting really excited to get my hands on the new dashboard and all of its new features. All we know is that Fall (our Spring) cannot get here quick enough.
