EA’s been in the news again (for good reasons I swear!), as a few weeks ago saw the reveal of a new Plants vs Zombies game for mobile, while yesterday saw a listing for the next chapter in that car racing series that gives people a desire for velocity. While EA did confirm that a new Need for Speed game was on the horizon, a new listing from Austrian retailer Gameware may have spilled the beans on this next entry in the franchise which goes by the name of Need for Speed: Heat.

We know that there’s a new Need for Speed from mega-publisher EA coming at some point. In a post on Reddit, Ghost Games has given a little more detail on the when, but very little on the what. In a post on Reddit, Ghost games has confirmed that they’re the team that’s working on the next Need for Speed, which will be out at some point this year. You won’t, however, see it at this year’s E3 in any way, shape or form.

EA is feeling the urge to slip into top gear (not that one) once again, as a new instalment in the Need for Speed franchise is on the horizon.

The latest big name to kind of opt out of the E3 festivities? None other than Electronic Arts, who’ll also be ditching the big press conference idea in favour of something a little bit more…different. Instead of the single hour-long presentation that has become a running joke in E3 circles, EA will instead spend the week before E3 releasing smaller livestreams.

Need For Speed Payback is a game built around the most cringe-worthy of dialogue, quotes so shockingly cheesy that your eyeballs are in danger of rolling out of your head with enough force to puncture your skull. Nowhere else in the game is that fact more apparent than in the Street Leagues. You’re racing around the city of Silver Rock to gain allies, leaders of gangs who each operate according to a certain discipline and spout out lines that reads like bad fan fiction.
