Wii Music Gametrailers Review

By Gavin Mannion

Wii Music has become one of those games I am just absolutely fascinated with, it seems utterly pointless but Nintendo are pushing it really hard and are telling everyone who will listen that the game is really good if you just give it a try? Honestly I think they know the game is rubbish and are just testing the waters …

Maybe it’s a bit early to already be looking into the next year but I came across a posting on Videogamer.com this morning that has Microsoft talking about their awesome line up for next year, or actually not talking about. Just letting us know that it will be great. So while 2008 has once again been one of the best …

For a company sitting pretty at the top of the gaming market, Nintendo has had a lot to say lately about its standing with core gamers. Now come assurances from yet another source that, no, Nintendo has definitely not “lost its passion” for core gamers. Last Updated: October 31, 2008

1UP scores Wii Music 91/100 – Did I Miss Something?

wiiMusic.jpg I am not entirely sure what the deal is with Wii Music. How can you call something a game when you have such little affect on what is actually going on. To be honest, it looks as if I could get the same experience out of switching the radio on and handing out a couple of household goods to my friends and telling them to pretend that they are playing instruments. While there are currently only three reviews on Metacritic for Wii Music ( The other two being Gamespy: 70/100 and IGN: 50/100) I was rather amazed to see that 1UP had scored it a 91. It's starting to make me wonder if being a gamer means the same thing as it did a couple of years back. The short except from the review says the following: "Wii Music may have a hard time winning over the skeptics who just want to laugh at it, but give the game the chance it deserves. You just might realize it's pretty damn fun being in on the joke." Am I one of those skeptics that she is talking about? Maybe. I won't know until I have tried it. To score it in the same range as titles such as Resident Evil 4, Okami and Metroid Prime 3 just feels off to me. But hey, what the hell do I know, I am not one of the gazillion people out there who have forked out money on the Wii, even though they barely know how to turn a PC on. Maybe now that gaming has finally taken off, hardcore gamers are going to feel even more alienated than we were before. Maybe I should buy Wii Music. I don't want to feel left when all of my aunts start talking about it.

Xbox 360 outsells the PS3 in Japan… Again

By Gavin Mannion

Can you believe that the Xbox 360 has actually outsold the PS3 in Japan now for 4 weeks running. That really is quite a feat and while the numbers are still low it must worry Sony a bit, I remember people saying that Microsoft cannot win this war without taking Japan. I have never believed that to be honest but …

Let's not tap… Let's rather boycott companies with bad games

I think this is getting a little out of hand now. First we had Wii Fit which wasn’t really a game but I guess it’s a nice gimmick, then we saw the awesomely terrible Wii Music and I honestly thought that the Wii games couldn’t get any worse. Now we get, Let’s Tap which is a new game from Nintendo …

Now that there are some concrete details about the Nintendo DSi, Joystiq has made a very nice little hardware comparison chart comparing the DSi to the PSP-3000 and Apple’s “gaming handheld” the iPhone/iPod Touch. Last Updated: October 2, 2008

Earlier today I posted the Game montage for all of Nintendo’s up and coming titles announced at their Tokyo press conference for Wii and DS. Now thanks to NeoGaf I can actually name the other 90% of the games in that video, in order of appearance. The full list is after the jump. Last Updated: October 2, 2008
