Command & Conquer Remastered Collection is the gold standard for what a blast from the past should and can be, as Petroglyph’s efforts have resulted in a handsome and hefty package of classic strategy, passion and modern-day improvements.

In a Reddit Ask Me Anything session last night, Lead Producer Jim Vessella took to the virtual stage to chat all things Command & Conquer with fans, answering a ton of questions regarding everything from gameplay improvements, multiplayer concerns and if there’d be mission-exclusive Orca units with laser beams attached to their frikken’ heads when the game launches on June 5. Here’s the massive round-up of all the questions and the answers that came from that mammoth session!

So how will Command & Conquer’s upcoming remaster look then? Like a blast from the past according to Petroglyph games.

For the upcoming remake of Command and Conquer and Red Alert, you’d think it’d be easy to whip up a soundtrack. After all, it can’t be more than a day’s job right? Just take all those classic MIDI tracks, throw them into an audio upscale blender and press the “MAKE GOOD MUSIC NOW” button several times…right? Not so! Petroglyph Games are working on a visual and an audio remake of the classic strategy game, one that requires some serious elbow grease in the soundtrack department.

Hard at work, Petroglyph Studios has a massive update on the way for the tactical game that features you riddling cannon fodder troops with steel as they descend on your base, and it’ll go by the name of Belit’s Fury when it lands later this month.

The year has been a treat for strategy game fans so far, hasn’t it? They Are Billions is now fully realised, Conan Unconquered is putting its own spin on the survival RTS sub-genre and later this month sees squad tactics on the go with Fire Emblem: Three Houses. There’s another older game on the horizon that I’m chomping at the bit to get my teeth on, now that it has some remaster sizzle to it: Command and Conquer.

A scrappy and bloody brilliant strategy game that builds further upon the idea of survival strategy, Conan Unconquered doesn’t stray too far from its primary influence but it does offer plenty of unique substance that gives it its very own flavour. Now that, is what is best in life.
