Final Fantasy is about as Japanese as Yakitori, karaoke, and knowing full well that tentacles don’t belong in animated series. Fans of the franchise over in Japan recently voted for their favourite games and characters in the franchise, and guess what? Final Fantasy X came out on top.

The PS5 will be backwards compatible with PS4 games, but the library is far more limited and focused on greatest hits over pure numbers. Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 is the Helen of Troy of video games, launching a thousand extreme sports ships in its direction and paving the way for a franchise that would reach new highs with the likes of two direct sequels and the legendary Tony Hawk Underground reboot. But beyond all that, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 still sounds like a blast to play.

We’ve spoken before about how Neversoft pulled off a 1080 miracle with this project, smashing a deadline and delivering an experience that was the perfect way to end a decade, a century and a millennium. Celebrating the mother of all milestones, the Hawk himself posted on Twitter some previously unseen footage of the motion capture for the game.

With a remaster around the corner and the memory of the more slap-dash port that was Final Fantasy 9, fan fears over Final Fantasy 8 being another rushed port to newer consoles are justified, especially in the audio department. Well fret not, because Final Fantasy 8 Remastered is sticking to the superb PSX source files.
