Yes, I know the world lost its collective shit over The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, spending hours and hours effectively living a digital life within the construct of the game. Here’s the thing though. While I enjoyed the game, I thought it paled in comparison to Oblivion, which I found to be a better experience. If you’ll recall, there’s a been a years-long fan mod attempt to port Oblivion’s content over to Skyrim’s engine. Over the years we’ve seen a few screenshots, but nothing particularly concrete.

Known as Shirley Curry to her friends and family, Skyrim Grandma is a beloved fixture on YouTube as she regularly showcases her adventures in Bethesda’s Nordic wonderland of dragon-shouting and Daedric ass-whuppin’. A beloved part of the Skyrim community, one of Curry’s recent comments resulted in fans and friends alike banding together to immortalise the popular YouTuber for all eternity in the next Elder Scrolls game after she expressed doubt as to whether or not she’d even be able to dedicate time to the sequel.

The added perspective brings Skyrim’s immense scale to life, giving the 6-year-old game a renewed vigour. As incredible as it is, it’s just not the sort of game that really benefits from VR. Skyrim’s made to be played for long sessions, but most people can only tolerate VR for shorter bursts.
