Weekend Box Office Report 20 - 22 July: It was the war of the sequels as eight out of ten entries on the charts were all follow-ups this weekend past, with The Equalizer 2 just narrowly beating out Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again to be the best of the lot.

Weekend Box Office Report 13 - 15 July: It looks like audiences are not yet tired of checking into Hotel Transylvania as the third film in the animated franchise topped the US charts as the Dwayne Johnson-led Skyscraper looks all rickety in third place. But way outside of the top 10 is where the weekend's biggest success story happened as comedian Bo Burnham's Eighth Grade became a huge limited release surprise hit.

I don’t think it’s a secret that I am a huge Dwayne Johnson fan, so I’m obviously excited to have Skyscraper open in cinemas this week. It’s also a good thing because the only other movie opening this week is, well, not good…

Writer/director Rawson Marshall Thurber made his name with comedies like Dodgeball and Central Intelligence, but now he's back with Skyscraper, a throwback action thriller heavily inspired by some genre greats. So will this tower built on The Rock topple or fall?
