Grand Theft Auto. It’s a small, indie game that hasn’t really spread very far beyond the miniscule audience that plays it religiously. You haven’t even heard of GTA, right? Too busy with Call of Duty and Assassin’s Creed to throw money at a tiny development team just looking for a breakout hit. Shame on you. Well, not that you’d even …

There’s some big money to be made in video games, but only a select few titles can rise to the top and be crowned as the king of the industry. Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto V…isn’t one of those games. But it’s damn close to the top, and it occupies the position of prince currently! Take-Two Interactive recently updated the sales figures for several of its games, and the numbers were rather mental.

Despite massive sales, Borderlands 3 developers are being short-changed on promised royalty payouts

I think it’s safe to say that Borderlands 3 was a hit. The core game was an addictive grind of loot ‘n shoot fun that sold five million copies in the first week, the DLC has been a welcome extension of the formula and the fandom is very very happy right now. A pity the same can’t be said for the people who made Borderlands 3, as it looks like all their hard work has resulted in them being absolutely stiffed come bonus day.

LA Noire was a perfect fit for Rockstar’s unique sense of gameplay style that favoured realism over fantasy. So where the heck is the sequel? Nobody knows! Rockstar isn’t spilling the beans, which means that it is Rumour O’Clock!

Surprise! Grand Theft Auto V is a blockbuster! In news that should come as a shock to no one, Rockstar Games is still selling copies of their classic sandbox by the truckload. Back in May, it was reported that Grand Theft Auto V had crossed the 110 million copies sold mark, while a new quarterly fiscal report from Take Two Interactive has painted an even rosier picture for the game: Between May and November, that figure shot up to 115 million units sold.

Rockstar Games is under fire for claiming £42 million in tax relief for the “culturally British” Grand Theft Auto V

By Darryn Bonthuys

Rockstar Games has come under fire for ducking its tax bill. That’s the claim thrown at the company behind games such as Red Dead Redemption 2 and Grand Theft Auto V’s massively popular online mode, because while Rockstar Games may have made a cool $5 billion operating profit between 2013 to 2019, it paid absolutely zero corporation tax and it managed to siphon away a fair sum from the Video Game Tax Relief Fund over several years.

Last night saw plenty of attention suddenly thrust towards Sony and Take Two Interactive, as a rumour began circulating around the web that the Japanese giant was looking to spend an unreal amount of cash on the publisher. That proposed mega-merger? It ain’t happening.
