Marvel's mutants will be heading back to outer space and forced to team up with the lethal protector Venom for upcoming crossover event Poison X.

Sony's solo Venom movie is picking up plenty of steam as Kelly Marcel has been tapped to pen a new script draft, while Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed and Jenny Slate join the cast.

Venom has been through a few changes over the years but after a recent tour of duty with Flash Thompson, the symbiote is once again bonded to Eddie Brock. Just in time as well, because the Venomverse event has begun. If you’re a fan of the character, then this might be the series that you’ve been waiting for, as Venomverse is a “celebration” of the character according to writer Cullen Bunn.

Spider-Man has had dozens of costumes over the years. Carnage has always been an effective Spider-Man villain, but the character has always worked better as one of Venom’s primary antagonists instead. Eddie Brock and the Venom symbiote may not be considered heroes, but they’re technically still on the side of angels whereas Carnage is a darker reflection of the same coin and a reminder as to how dangerous power without responsibility can be. Which is why he makes the perfect foil for the Venom movie.
