Venom is out in cinemas, busy breaking box office records. That's not the only reason why some fans are excited though as the film's mid-credits scene lays down a gigantic tease for the franchise's future.

Weekend box office report 5 -7 October 2018: Critics may not have been kind to Venom but general audiences were a different thing altogether as the superhero movie posted a record-breaking $205 million global debut. Combined with a stellar opening for Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga's A Star is Born, this helped to make this the biggest October weekend in box office history.

In the run-up to the release of Venom, director Ruben Fleischer’s Spider-Man-less live-action feature film adaptation of the Spider-Man comic book anti-hero, there was quite the brouhaha surrounding the news that the Lethal Protector’s first solo film would be a PG-13 affair. Turns out that crimson-free action – and there are a few laughable moments of that as decapitations apparently produce about the same quantity of blood as swatting a moth – is the least of Venom’s problems.
