I hope you like shoulders with more power than a 1980s lawyer business suit, blood, and skulls, because there's a whole lot of Warhammer on the horizon! Games Workshop and its many developing/publishing partners slapped together a grand ol' showcase for the franchise, which included everything from brand new game reveals through to updates on existing titles and a whole lot more. Good but not exceptional, Warhammer: Chaosbane is a solid and confident slice of medieval melee action. As Gothic as it is repetitive in the endgame phase, it’s still an enjoyable romp in the same vein as many an action RPG from yesteryear.

There’s nothing surprising about Warhammer: Chaosbane, but I’m a bigger fan of a game which is comfortable in its own skin and is unapologetic about the kind of experience that it wants to be.

The Humble Store is running a special for the next two weeks with the Humble Warhammer Bundle, as well as a few properties from Games Workshop that are thrown into the mix. For a single space-dollar, you’ll get the original Dawn of War in its comprehensive Game of the Year edition, Talisman: Digital Edition and the expansions Blood Moon, Harbinger and Sacred Pool.

Developer Bulwark Studios and publisher Kasedo Games are onto something here, as Mechanicus feels like a refreshing departure from the usual grunt and grind of the Warhammer 40K universe
