EA has some new Mercenaries 2 DLC planned this month and a bigger update in November. The first DLC is called “Total Payback” and it includes a cheat that unlocks all the weapons, vehicles and air strikes, another one for infinite health and ammo as well as cross-region co-op, allowing you to play the game with people from all over …

The Force Unleashed DLC on the way

By Nick De Bruyne

LucasArts have revealed that they will be releasing DLC for The Force Unleashed this Fall (Our Spring). The content will be arriving in two parts. The first part will have new character models as well as additional costumes that will be available to use in the single player campaign. These new playable characters will include Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi as well as Ki-Adi-Mundi (the conehead Jedi) and Kit Fisto (the Jedi with tentacles thingies for hair). The next set of DLC will actually be adding a new mission for the single player campaign. This mission will take place in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant (the same one from the movies). Why is he going to the temple you may ask?

"Darth Vader’s Secret Apprentice turns to the Jedi Temple to learn more about his father, and while searching through the rubble of the destroyed building he must confront his inner demons." Ever since I was left with the bitter taste of disappointment from the Mass Effect DLC, I am skeptical about additional mission for single player campaigns. If however, the price is right then it may be worth a look considering that I found the game to be a heap of fun. If the extra mission only adds an hour of gameplay though, then it had better be really cheap or it may just be a waste of everyones time. How about one or two more force powers? The PSP version actually has a few nifty powers that the next-gen versions didn't have, so that would be a cool addition. We will surely get more information on the DLC soon, so watch this space.

Xbox 360 sales up over 200%

By Gavin Mannion

I find it difficult to believe any consoles sales figures that start with the following statement “[Console Manufacturer] has announced” but in this case they are being backed up by a third party company (Chart Track) so I am guessing it’s safe… Anyway Microsoft has announced that sales of the 360 in the UK have increased by 214% over the …

New Alan Wake Trailer coming?

By Gavin Mannion

I was just getting used to the idea that Alan Wake wasn’t going to be making it to a console anytime soon and now this news crops up. “We can truly say with pride (and quite in flames!), That two years of silence, after Remedy intends to present the Alan Wake-game trailer for the new format” … say what? You …

Skate 2 – Tony Hawk is shaking in his boots… err, sneakers.

This latest video of Skate 2 has just confirmed to me that I need this game with such immediacy that I may just book a plane ticket to the developers country so that I can steal some early code out of their office. Do they have HDTV's in jail? They do, right? Seriously now, the features for this game are looking absolutely incredible. Not only will your character now be able to get off of his board and walk, they have added the ability to move objects around, run out of failed attempts (as opposed to just falling flat on your face), hippie jumps, kicking your board away, running and jumping back onto your board, handplants, acid drops... heck, this game nearly has everything. I was very impressed with the first Skate due to the fact that it refreshed the entire genre and did things so differently. This video makes me realise how many great features it was actually still missing, so I cannot wait to waste hours and hours of my life away again, skating the streets and nailing some smooth lines. Skate 2 and Prison, here I come.

Gears of War 2 – Lazygamer News Feature

By Nick De Bruyne

Gears of War fans, get ready to put a considerably large smile on your dial because we have a huge chunk of information on Gears of War 2 including never before mentioned extra content. If you are one of the many fans that can't get enough of Gears of War 2 and need to know even more about it's features, don't miss out on all the good stuff that we have for you today.... Check this out, the list is taken from the evilavatar forum "Previously, it was thought that Gridlock and Subway would be the only gears 1 maps making a return.... These five maps will be free of charge but the only way to get them is if you receive a voucher, which every NEW copy of the game will have."... While we originally thought that we would only be getting remakes of Gridlock and Subway, we are actually going to be getting three more. A major point of interest here is that is looks like Epic is taking a stab at the used games market because the maps will only be redeemable using a voucher that comes with each new copy.... Thanks to Germany and their wonderful habit of banning any game that drips a drop of blood, our region as well as a couple others are obviously not going to be able download the maps without any extra effort. This is probably a great time to redirect you back to our method of getting around these annoyances, instead, I have posted the link to that wonderful little gem of an article at the bottom of this article. Ok, next point of interest: "In regards to the photo editor, it can be used by anyone who is either dead or in spectator mode.... The real downside of being connected to an online system is that I feel that developers are getting was too used to this idea of "release now and fix or add later" instead of having everything in and working from the get go.... ---------------------------------- Here we go: -Cliffy B says, "There will be no Kryll or Berserkers in the game", claiming that he wants gamers to have a new experience and not just treading on familiar ground.... -Brumaks are plentiful in the game and the article says that at some point late in the game, you will actually get to ride and take control of one.... The upside of this is, is that you can deploy it on the ground and launch attacks from a very long distance away and it is supposedly capable of killing two or three people at a time!... These five maps will be free of charge but the only way to get them is if you receive a voucher, which every NEW copy of the game will have.... Gears of War 2 will be available on November 11, so get your chainsaws ready because it's going to be a bloody one.

These are the Days of Our Consoles

By Nick De Bruyne

You may remember that we previously reported on Jane Wells from CNBC posting up an article about how her "videogame expert" son was trading in his Xbox 360 to buy a PS3 after being impressed by the Sony E3 Presentation. Just a couple of months later it seems that her expert of a son feels like he made a mistake. It's not like we really care too much about what one woman's son is up to, but this whole thing has turned into quite a soap opera.... In an interesting turn, it seems that her son now misses all of his friends on Xbox Live and has decided to trade his PS3 back in for another Xbox 360, even though while standing in line, his friend was complaining about his own 360 giving him issues now that it's out of warranty. The trade-in value for the PS3 was not enough to make up the amount necessary for a new Xbox 360, so to get it, the son made a bit of a plan. Check this out, you won't believe what he did: How did my son come up with the difference between the trade-in price and the new Xbox? He made $300 this weekend selling his decked-out World of Warcraft character on eBay.... Although I find this point quite intriguing, I will leave it for another day and just stick to the point here. Jane Wells goes on to list a couple of lessons that have been learned from this entire experience: 1- the gaming experience is more than a few games and cool graphics.... The moral of this story is actually pretty easy to figure out: Do whatever works for you. This kid realised that the Xbox 360 was the best option for him, so he went back to it. He realised that it's not necessarily about what the console offers in terms of technology, it depends on what brings you the most joy to your own life. If all of your friends own PS3's and play online every night you would be a bit of a fool to buy an Xbox 360 and play by yourself when you could be jamming some online games with your buddies. Let's hope that this is the last that we hear from Jane Wells and her son's amazing console saga. Now if you will excuse me, I need to go and create a World of Warcraft character, I'm going to be rich.

Confirmed: No COD5 Beta for Playstation 3

By Nick De Bruyne

Sorry Playstation people. If you were hoping to get some time with the COD5 beta then you will not be happy to hear that it has now been confirmed that the beta will only be available for the PC and Xbox 360 platforms. Treyarchs excuse? PSU.com reports the following about Treyarch's statement: "We are running the beta only on the Xbox 360 and PC," said the representative. He continued then to point out that most betas on the PS3 are run by first party anyways, and if Treyarch runs their testing on the Xbox 360 and PC they acquire more data on servers and connectivity." Excuse me, but that sounds like a load of trash to me. Are there issues with the PS3 versions development? Nothing is for certain and we don't actually know if there are any actual issues with the PS3 version at the moment but with an excuse like that my mind really has to start wondering. I don't think that we are getting the full story here. I think that someone has screwed up somewhere and now the PS3 owners are going to have to miss out because of it.
