Farming Simulator

Oh to be a farmer. There’s nothing quite like getting up at the crack of dawn to milk the cows, till some soil, and walk those sheep. Eating off the land? Best decision I ever made. Also, I have no idea what I’m talking about. A bout of Farming Simulator would fix that for sure! The game has always appealed to me*, I just never saw the experience being authentic with a keyboard and mouse. Thankfully, I’m not the only one who feels that way.

Saitek and GIANTS Software have joined forces to bring digital farmers worldwide the means of input they have always desired (via PC Gamer):

Saitek and GIANTS Software are teaming up to create the first ever, custom Farming Simulator hardware! Forget about using racing wheels to play Farming Simulator, you’ll be driving your vehicle with a properly tilted, center sprung steering wheel with 900 degrees of turning and a wheel turning knob—just like the real thing! On the wheel, a Mini-stick controls your movement when not in your vehicle and real buttons allow you to use your in-game PDA. Gas and brake pedals come standard with the wheel, too.

Most exciting of all, Saitek is developing a Vehicle Side Panel exclusively for this game! The Side Panel features a Front Loader Control Stick to give you precise control of your vehicle’s front attachments and fully programmable buttons for tool attach/detach, tool switching, reverse, lights, horn, cruise control, and more!

LEGIT

As far as custom controllers go, that actually sounds and looks pretty cool. 900 degree turning action? I’m cancelling my gym contract this instant! Now if only I could muster the enthusiasm to actually play the damn game. I would definitely be the best cabbage farmer in the world… both physically and digitally.

What do you think? Are you a closet Farm Simulator? Does this sort of accessory get your heartbeat racing?

*that’s a dirty lie
