Minecraft, the indie game that’s essentially a digital version of LEGO got an actual release last year, and has been racking up all manner of accolades. While the video game industry in general is doing all it can to stop piracy, the game’s creator, Markus “Notch” Persson seems to have a different attitude.

In response to a gamer asking for a free Minecraft account on Twitter, Persson replied with a casual “"just pirate it."

"If you still like it when you can afford it in the future, buy it then,” he aid, with a morsel of faith in humanity.

Adding a touch of sly humour, he concluded with

"Also don’t forget to feel bad ;)”

Notch, of course, has made so much money with Minecraft – which sold over four million copies before it even went gold – that he c an afford to hire out private jets to hop about the planet – but other indie game developers aren’t quite as fortunate…and aren’t likely to have the same nonchalant attitude to piracy.
