We’ve seen certainly seen our fair share of dystopian futures before, but I think that Snowpiercer – acclaimed Korean director, Bong Joon-Ho’s English language debut – has to be a first: A post-apocalyptic future based on what it’s like to use the Metrorail train services in South Africa. They’ve got cold weather, everybody’s dirty, a lot of shady looking characters and there’s a person with beady eyes standing up and preaching to everybody.
Yep, definitely Metrorail. Just a bigger budget, better special effects and of course, Captain America, as can be seen in this new international trailer for the sci-fi epic.
“Snowpiercer,” based on the French graphic novel “Le Transperceneige,” is set in a future where, after a failed experiment to stop global warming, an Ice Age kills off all life on the planet except for the inhabitants of the Snow Piercer, a train that travels around the globe and is powered by a sacred perpetual-motion engine. A class system evolves on the train but a revolution brews.
AXE FIGHT!
Snowpiercer currently doesn’t have an international release date yet.
