This year’s San Diego Comic-Con was a landmark one for the famous convention. Besides for all the big announcements and reveals that happened there, by far the biggest story that came out of that weekend in July was studios’ insistence on Comic-Con exclusive trailers. With getting into the vaunted Hall H becoming more impossible with each passing year, this practice has really started to peeve off lots of people, leading to tons of editorials calling for this marketing approach to just go away. Especially since there’s a very big chance that despite Comic-Con’s paranoid security, somebody is going to make a low-res cellphone recording of the footage and have it online within minutes anyway.

This is exactly what happened to several high profile movies this year, the most famous being Suicide Squad as Warner Bros was actually forced to officially release the “Comic-Con exclusive” trailer of the upcoming supervillain flick instead of having some horribly dark, out of focus cellphone footage be fans’ first introduction to their movie. One film that somehow managed to mostly avoid all these leaks though was Warcraft, the Duncan “Moon” Jones directed adaptation of Blizzard’s hugely popular video game franchise that has been one of the most secretive projects in Hollywood for the last few years. Until now.

Warcraft (1)

Gamespot were the first to report yesterday about the existence of some grainy leaked footage of the trailer for Warcraft that was shown to the audience at Comic-Con during Legendary Pictures’ presentation. This is clearly not a recording made in Hall H though, but appears to be from some closed-doors presentation, so it’s unclear where this footage comes from. But that’s all beside the point as what truly matters here is that even though it has hugsewatermarks on it and seems to be recorded by a chatty Russian guy with a Nokia 3310, it looks incredible! Epic landscapes, massive battles, an amazing mix of CGI characters and live-action heroes and exactly the type of fan-pleasing action that makes it look as if this was pulled straight out of the legendary cinematic videos that Blizzard makes use of in-game.

But don’t take my word for it. Hurry up and check it out below before it gets pulled!

How awesome is that?! Now imagine how much more awesome that would be seen in proper 1080p with surround sound? C’mon, Legendary! Just officially release this footage! Duncan Jones has previously said that Warcraft is “pretty much a finished movie” already, so why are you making us wait this long?

Okay, so it isn’t really that long as there has been talk that an official trailer is set to debut in November, but there’s no word yet on whether it will be this trailer or some new cut of footage. Unfortunately, once that trailer drops there will still be quite a wait as Warcraft is only scheduled for release in June 2016.

Warcraft stars Travis Fimmel as human warrior Lothar Anduin, Toby Kebbell as Orc Chieftain Durotan, Rob Kazinsky as his right hand Orgrim Doomhammer, Dominic Cooper as human King Llane, Ruth Negga as his queen Lady Taria, Ben Foster as the mysterious Medivh, Paula Patton as the half-orc Garona, Ben Schnetzer as the human mage Khadgar, Daniel Wu as orc warlock Gul’dan, and Clancy Brown as fearsome orc warchief Blackhand.
