There were very few good things that came out of CBS’s merciless spring cleaning of its lineup two weeks ago. One of the few positives though is that Supergirl has been renewed for a second season, but will be moving from CBS to its sister network The CW. Besides for it just being a much better demographic fit, The CW is of course also home to all the other popular DC Comics series on TV right now, all being managed by showrunner Greg Berlanti.

And with everything under one proverbial roof now, the network is planning one monster of a crossover that will see Supergirl, Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow all linking up somehow. CW President Mark Pedowitz made the announcement at the network’s Upfront presentation last week, and EW was in attendance to capture it.

Ahead of its upfront presentation on Thursday, CW chief Mark Pedowitz touted Supergirl’s move from CBS to The CW. “Just imagine what our superhero crossover episode is going to look like come December,” he told reporters, later following up by calling the event “our biggest one ever.”

Pedowitz then made it official during The CW’s upfront presentation. “Next season, Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and now Supergirl will join forces in our annual crossover event, our biggest ever,” he said.

The CW shows crossing over with each is of course nothing new, as Arrow did it with The Flash when the latter was first introduced and both those shows did it with Legends of Tomorrow when that show debuted. Not to mention the fact that Supergirl has of course already crossed over with The Flash about a month ago with Flash’s ability to access the Speed Force – and thus the multiverse – being used to get around the fact that Supergirl is actually set in a different universe to the other three shows. I’m guessing the same mechanic will be employed this time around. And hopefully this crossover will also be just as successful as that particular episode, as it was fantastic!

So are you guys excited to see all your favourite CW superheroes hanging out together later this year?
